About this position

An opportunity exists to join the Engineering Services team as a Street Sweeping Operator/General Hand. This hands-on role is responsible for providing street cleaning services across the City's roads, car parks and pedestrian areas - helping to maintain clean, safe and attractive public spaces.

Key responsibilities include operating street sweepers, educting and cleaning drainage structures, reporting damaged infrastructure and implementing road traffic control measures in line with basic worksite traffic management standards.

The role also supports a multi-skilled team environment and includes backfilling other engineering maintenance duties as required.

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in street sweeping or similar roles
  • Experience operating a range of plant and equipment safely and competently
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to work well in a team with a customer-focused attitude

Essential requirements

  • MR driver's licence
  • White Card
  • National Police Clearance (no more than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Desirable requirements

  • Basic Workplace Traffic Management and Traffic Control certification
