About this position

The City of Gosnells is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Community Programs Officer to develop and deliver a diverse range of community programs, workshops and small events that enhance the quality of life for residents. This role will also support the delivery of larger community events as required.

Working closely with the Arts and Programs team, as well as a range of community and cultural groups, this position plays a key role in ensuring programs are engaging, inclusive and responsive to community needs. Responsibilities include overseeing contractors and service providers, supervising casual and volunteer staff, and supporting the Coordinator Events and Programs with annual budget preparation, funding opportunities and partnership development.

This role requires availability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and/or nights.

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a similar role developing and delivering community-based programs and small events
  • Sound knowledge of risk management planning and implementation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience managing contractors, service providers and casual/volunteer staff
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships within the community

Essential requirements

  • Driver's licence.
  • First Aid certificate
  • National Police Clearance (no more than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

This is a physically demanding role that involves manual handling. Applicants may be required to undergo a medical assessment to determine their fitness to carry out the duties of this position.
