  • Full time (76 Hours per fortnight)

    • Level 6 $98,223 to $105,770 plus super
    • Level 7 $108,164 to $114,630 plus super

About this position

The City is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Building Surveyor to join the Building Services team. Based at the City's Civic Centre, this role plays a vital part in ensuring that building applications are managed with precision, efficiency and professionalism.

Key responsibilities include assessing applications for accuracy and compliance, reporting on building conditions and providing technical advice to staff and stakeholders. This role also involves delivering prompt, courteous information to the public in person and over the phone.

The salary range will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in the building industry.
  • Sound customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and build productive working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Local Government experience is not essential but will be well regarded.

Essential requirements

  • Relevant qualifications or accreditations as a Building Surveying Practitioner Level 1 (Level 7 position) or Building Surveying Practitioner Level 2 (Level 6 position).
  • Driver's licence.
  • Current Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
