About the position

The City's Waste and Operations Centre business unit is seeking a qualified mechanic to undertake vehicle, plant and equipment maintenance and repairs. The City operates a large fleet comprising trucks, trailers, tractors, and other small plant equipment. The position is also required to undertake fabrication works on occasions that is associated with fleet repairs.

This is a permanent position based at the City's Operations Centre in Maddington.

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience working with various plant and equipment of all sizes.
  • Great mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritise their time and work to tight maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to work as part of a small close-knit team and be a dynamic team player.

Essential requirements

  • HR class driver's licence
  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Trade qualification.
  • National Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Experience working within a Local Government fleet department is not essential but would be highly desirable.
