About the position
The City's Parks and Environment branch is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to develop and implement strategic environmental initiatives and provide technical advice on the protection, rehabilitation and management of the City's natural areas, in line with management plans and policies.
In this position, you will provide expert environmental advice for City projects involving environmental impact assessments, analysis and interpretation of technical issues within legislative requirements and best environmental management practice.
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to develop strategies, management plans and other strategic documents
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the technical assessment of environmental impact
- Knowledge and ability to interpret relevant environmental management legislation, policies and guidelines
- Experience undertaking environmental approval processes
- Experience in liaising with consultants and contractors
- High-level communication skills to be able to produce and review technical documents
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Essential requirements
- Degree in Environmental Management or equivalent
- Driver's licence
- White Card
- Current Police Clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role, but it will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
