About this position
The City is seeking an experienced communications professional with strengths in media and corporate communications to join our small team, in a job share capacity. Our Communications and Marketing team is fast-paced, energetic and delivers proactive communication strategies, enhancing the City's reputation for doing great things.
In this role you will leverage your expertise in media and public relations to write and distribute media releases highlighting City activities while also managing responses to media inquiries, writing speech and interview notes, organising photo opportunities and undertaking other key responsibilities.
What we are looking for
To be successful you must be able to demonstrate:
- Sound media knowledge and ability to develop engaging stories
- Capability using sound judgement in dealing with media, the community and all levels of government
- Experience in copywriting, editing and corporate publications
- Strong time management skills, prioritising and coordinating personal workload to meet competing deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
- Competency using a range of computer software, including Adobe InDesign
Essential requirements
- Driver's licence
- Qualification in communications, marketing or public relations, or equivalent experience in a similar role
- Current Police Clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
