    • Level 5 $91,398 to $96,582 plus super
    • Level 6 $98,223 to $105,770 plus super

About this position

The City is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Planner to join the Development Services team.

The salary range will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess and determine planning proposals, including development applications, subdivisions, scheme amendments, Structure Plans and Local Development Plans
  • Prepare reports for Council and JDAP consideration
  • Participate State Administrative Tribunal matters
  • Attend meetings and provide written advice to government agencies, developers, the public and internal stakeholders
  • Deliver excellent customer service across all interactions

What we are looking for

To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Sound knowledge (Level 5) or comprehensive knowledge (Level 6) of land use planning and development control, including the application of relevant legislation, practices and trends.
  • Good understanding of the importance of design in the planning process (Level 6).
  • Effective report writing skills (Level 6)
  • Excellent written and verbal and communication skills, along with the ability to interpret plans to customers.
  • Strong organisational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain position working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated experience in a similar role will be highly regarded.

Essential requirements

  • Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
  • Driver's licence
  • National Police Clearance (no older than three months). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Candidates may be considered for future similar positions if they become available within the next six months.
