About this position

The City is seeking two trade-qualified professionals to join the Parks Assets and Contracts team and help maintain a diverse portfolio of parks infrastructure across nearly 400 parks and reserves. This includes fencing, walls, paving, boardwalks and shelters and more.

In this role, you will support the Supervisor Assets by carrying out installation, maintenance and repair works on a variety of park assets. You will be involved in planning and scheduling tasks, overseeing contractors and providing on-site guidance to staff, all while delivering high-quality, hands-on work.

Key responsibilities include operating specialised tools and small plant, maintaining high standards of workmanship and site safety, resolving on-the-job issues as they arise, and sharing technical expertise with the team.

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Substantial experience in infrastructure maintenance, particularly in parks or landscape settings
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for positive and courteous customer interactions
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to work independently

Essential requirements

  • Trade certificate in Carpentry/Cabinet making, Welding, Landscape Construction or similar
  • MR driver's licence
  • White Card
  • National Police Clearance (no more than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Desirable requirements

  • Operator tickets for machinery such as Loader, Elevating Work Platform (EWP), Forklift and Chainsaw
