About this position
Are you a jack of all trades in the engineering construction field? If so, we would like you to consider joining the City's experienced Engineering Construction Team. This position focuses on the construction or alteration of stormwater drainage infrastructure including, pipes, pits and side entries in accordance with provided plans, guidelines, and policies.
In this position you will be expected to:
- Undertake and assume responsibility for precision measuring, single dimensional plan reading, and quality control.
- Operate City's vehicles, plant, and equipment in a safe and proficient manner, including loading requirements and transportation of various materials to/from various work sites in accordance with relevant guidelines and policies.
- Locate and identify underground services which may impact works being undertaken.
- Report vehicle and plant maintenance requirements to the Supervisor Engineering Construction and Fleet Services to ensure that plant and equipment is maintained to the required standards.
- Work effectively as part of a small team, demonstrating strong communication and a collaborative attitude to complete tasks as directed.
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in a similar position, performing pipelaying tasks.
The City is willing to train the right candidate with other transferable skills and experience in drainage tasks.
- A solution-based approach to the maintenance of stormwater drainage infrastructure including pipes, pits and side entries.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with others and work closely with diverse teams, contractors, and stakeholders to contribute to the success of the business.
Essential requirements
- MR Driver's Licence
- White Card
- Current National Police Clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
Desirable requirements
- Current Basic Workplace Traffic Management and Traffic Control certificate
- Machine or plant operators certification
