About this position

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Work Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor to effectively lead the day-to-day operations of the City's WHS team, coaching, engaging and influencing the workforce to ensure the highest standard of health and safety is achieved within the City.

You will work closely with business units to deliver practical, outcome-focused solutions that make health and safety real and valued. Your influence will help drive continuous improvement, build leadership WHS capability, and ensure the City meets its duty of care responsibilities.

Additionally you will:

  • Lead and coordinate key WHS projects and initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of the WHS strategy and plan.
  • Provide expert advice on WHS systems, contractor management, and injury management.
  • Drive continuous improvement and risk management.
  • Build strong relationships across the City and influence positive safety outcomes.

What we are looking for

We're looking for a qualified and experienced WHS professional who's passionate about creating healthy, safe and sustainable workplaces. You'll ideally bring:

  • Broad experience in WHS roles within large, diverse organisations.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation and practical application.
  • High level communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Essential requirements

  • Current driver's licence (essential).
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS (Minimum of Certificate IV)
  • Current Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
