Senior Purchasing Officer

About this position
We are seeking a proactive and experienced individual to lead the day-to-day operations of the City's Stores Service. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance leadership, logistics and customer service.
Based at the Operations Centre, the Senior Purchasing Officer will undertake responsibilities including (but not limited to):
- Overseeing and supporting up to two staff
- Managing stock control and purchasing processes
- Responding to queries and requests regarding purchasing, supplies and stores issues
- Monitoring and coordinating fuel supply for the City's fleet
- Negotiating with suppliers to achieve value for the City
- Providing excellent customer service and problem-solving support
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated experience in a purchasing or stores role
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with office-based software
- The ability to lead and develop staff effectively
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
Essential requirements
- Current Driver's licence
- National Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
Desirable requirements
- High-Risk Work Licence - Class LF (Forklift)
- Front end loader / articulated wheel loader ticket
