About this position

We are seeking a proactive and experienced individual to lead the day-to-day operations of the City's Stores Service. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance leadership, logistics and customer service.

Based at the Operations Centre, the Senior Purchasing Officer will undertake responsibilities including (but not limited to):

• Overseeing and supporting up to two staff
• Managing stock control and purchasing processes
• Responding to queries and requests regarding purchasing, supplies and stores issues
• Monitoring and coordinating fuel supply for the City's fleet
• Negotiating with suppliers to achieve value for the City
• Providing excellent customer service and problem-solving support

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

• Demonstrated experience in a purchasing or stores role
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with office-based software
• The ability to lead and develop staff effectively
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset

Essential requirements

• Current Driver's licence
• National Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Desirable requirements

• High-Risk Work Licence - Class LF (Forklift)
• Front end loader / articulated wheel loader ticket
