About this position
The City is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join the Asset Management team within the Business Services Directorate. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in how the City plans for, manages and invests in its infrastructure assets.
You will be responsible for the integrity and continuous improvement of asset information systems, condition data and related business processes, applying your engineering and asset management expertise to support lifecycle planning and valuation outcomes. Using sound professional judgement, you will resolve complex technical issues and contribute to organisation‑wide asset management outcomes that support both current and future community needs.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee and manage asset data, including asset structures, data governance, analysis and reconciliation
- Coordinate asset condition inspections across multiple asset classes, including managing consultants, RFQs and technical specifications
- Review and validate condition and defect data, applying sound engineering judgement and relevant standards
- Contribute specialist input to asset management plans, service levels, lifecycle planning and revaluation processes
- Prepare and analyse valuation inputs, including useful life reviews and unit rates
- Liaise with auditors, consultants, developers and external agencies on asset engineering and valuation matters
- Contribute to asset management improvement initiatives and cross‑functional working groups
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Substantial professional experience in asset engineering, lifecycle planning, valuation support and corporate asset systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong attention to numerical detail
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights
- Advanced written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Essential requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Asset Management or a related field
- Driver's licence.
- Current National Police clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
